Mother's Day's COMING SOON!

Do those words strike terror in your heart??? I know most of us our Mom's ourselves and sometimes things just *sneak* up on us! With Easter so late this year, we barely had time to catch our breath before Mother's Day is up on deck! So... with the *BIG* day right around the corner, you might not have time left to order something personalized to get it in time for giving to that special Mom by Sunday! Well, this little short series is going to help! It will be some quick ideas that you can either PRINT AT HOME (no matter what kind of printer you have) or have printed at places like Walmart, Walgreens or your local photo printer to have done in time for Mother's Day (this year!) :-)

For today's idea... make a visit to your local Target, Michael's, Hobby Lobby or Joann's. In at least one of those places you should be able to find some of the tumblers that you can do a customized insert for. Some places even have coffee mugs designed like this as well. They are MADE for your creative touch! Here are some examples of the ones that are available!

So, all you need to do is find one of these little goodies that suits your fancy, and remove the template that comes with the mug to use as your guide. Create an image or page that is a a little larger than required to fill your template outline. You can of course add any photos, embellishments, wordart or borders that you like to make the project *just* what you want! Save the page layout to a jpeg image and print it to your home printer either on cardstock or photopaper (which can be purchased at just about *any* office supply store, Walmart, or Target!) trace the outline onto your layout, trim out of your printed image and slip it in the tumbler or mug!

This is a GREAT gift for Grandma, or sister - remember you can even "borrow" images from the Facebook pages of the Mom's on your shopping list!

*PLEASE* remember in your planning this year to include those single Mom's you know that might not have anyone in their life that is going to make Mother's Day special for them. Being a single Mom is an incredibly tough job and you can totally make someone's day by taking just a few minutes, to really make their day special! They are often forgotten - and you can increase the joy of your day making the day special for someone else too!

Everyone should have an Epiphanie...... maybe even two!!!

Hi all! Just checking in for a chat! I always enjoy sharing wonderful things here, and here's today's little gem! I dream of being a photographer... but I am a "picture taker" right now... working toward becoming a photographer. Along the way - I have collected some goodies that are just tasty little treats that I wanted to share with you. I have gotten some great deals on equipment on CraigsList and eBay and have been trying to get the goods that will help me along the way. So, I found a nice, used Nikon D80 that I picked up on the cheap, and a couple of lenses - nothing fancy - to go with it. Then after consulting with my friend, Miss Mary Mac - who is an amazing pro photographer, a nifty speedlight. Now, mind you, I don't know how to work most of the features yet, but I am learning!

Well, when I asked Mary what else was still on her wish list, she told me her hubby was getting her an "Epiphanie" ~ and when I saw it, I would want one too! An "Epiphanie"???... well, "what in the heck is that??" I asked. Then she directed me to the website (http://www.epiphaniebags.com/) she was getting a "Ginger" for her birthday. What I soon found out was that Epiphanie bags are THE hottest camera bags around! They are just delicious! After checking out the site for about 20 seconds, I fell in LOVE with Lola! She is RED hot, and gor-JUSS! I am sure no pro photographer yet, but that doesn't mean I can't look like one!

So... I decided to order Lola - not even having *seen* an Epiphanie bag in person. I took it on faith, that I would love her. Especially after reading all the reviews by women in the know - that she would suit me just fine. There are three sisters in the Epiphanie line, Ginger, Belle, and Lola. Anyone that knows me will tell you, if a bag comes in red, that will be my first choice! And it was, of course! Lola is now also available in BLACK!

She arrived a week or so later, and I was NOT dissappointed at ALL!! Now, I think if I were a pro, or collect much more gear, I will need a bigger bag - like maybe Ginger, or Belle. But for my collection of goodies, she suits me fine! She holds my Nikon D80 and two additional lenses, and my speedlight. There are also little pockets where I can stick my keys or cell phone if I only want to carry her. And seriously, NO ONE believes that she is a camera bag. I love the little silver "hang-tag" that has a little graphic of a camera which hints at her being a workhorse and not just a hot bag! I get compliments on my bag almost everywhere I take her, and that is BEFORE people know she is full of camera equipment! She sits on my shoulder comfortably and stays put, even full! I haven't used the cross body strap yet, but I hear great reviews from those that have!

She posed recently for these shots, and I think she looks STUNNING in the sun!

Dream spaces...

Has there ever been a time when you found something online that just caught your eye, and really made you *wish* that you could just climb in the photo and be there in real life? Well, that happened to me a couple years back. I was doing a TON of sewing and really wanted to make my sewing space something special. I had been lucky enough in previous homes to have a sewing spot, or even a sewing room several times... but I wanted something more like a studio... something that would look, but more importantly feel like a studio. Even the name takes it from a place where you sew to a place where you create. Well, that's when I came across one of those blogs that just makes you drool. I found Heather Bailey online. She just seems like one of those people who are just cool to know. She looks adorable, has adorable children, and handy hubby and just seems to ooze creativity in everything she does. She calls herself a fabric and lifestyle designer and I would say she is exactly right! She seems to have stepped straight from a magazine ad, adorable children in tow. You just HAVE to check out some of the amazing things on her website. Heather Bailey Store She posted photos of her studio on her blog and I knew INSTANTLY that this was the feel I wanted my new place to have. It was a dream... sure, but who doesn't need a dream???

I created a quick little page with some of the amazing photos from her blog HelloMyNameIsHeather ~ just so you could see what I mean. If you have a creative bone in your body, this must surely speak to you.

You can just tell that this is a place where a creative mind lives, and a creative spirit breathes... don't you just want to climb right in there??? I know I do! It looks amazing, but more over, it has the FEEL I was talking about. I just LOVE the table in the center of the room and the amazing shape to it. I love her shelf where her fabric is on display. I adore her loved dress form standing in the corner ~ and the light in the room. But her studio is HER, and I want my space to be ME. This is just what I want it to *feel* like. Does that make ANY sense to anyone?

So, I was doing a ton of sewing, and I wanted my space to *feel* like this too... a place where the things in my mind would come to life and a place where fabrics would be visible and provide inspiration for what they would become and so on. And so, when I was lucky enough to convince my hubby to let me take over the "formal" living room in our home (because there just isn't much formal about us at all) I set out to create something special. Well, for those of you who know me, know that I have much more of a creative mind, than an active do-er spirit! I have the best of intentions and the biggest plans, but... well, you know how that can go :-) I ended up with a sewing room... not a studio... sure, it was and is a place I loved to be, but a space that didn't feel anything like what I had wanted or hoped for... BUT, I did collect (and collecting is sometimes what I do best!) some really cool stuff ~ and now, as I mentioned in my earlier post... I am moving toward this little corner of the world being my all-day, every day office. My workplace, my creating space, my refuge... my Dreaming Place.

I described all my treasures in the previous post, but have made progress enough in the Big Clean to take some photos for you. Below, I have popped them all into a couple of pages to show you what I have to work with. All the things that are so special to me, the things that make me *feel* like me... each a part of who I am, and what makes me tick.

I have the shelf in the corner with all the little cubbies - super cool for a couple of reasons... First, just because I love cubbies, and secondly because it has a delicious scent to it. It was a display in a candle store in its' former life and still smells yummy - even though I have had it for two years now. It is taller than me and dominates the corner where it stands. I like it being a focal point in the room.

Then there is the fainting sofa, which is just too cute - and I have the fabrics I will use in the room shown there. They are kind of funky, but I love the colors and want to use that palette in the room. I will make a couple pillows for the sofa, and a curtain for the doorway and window in some combination of those fabrics.

The vintage Singer sewing machine on the treadle table is absolutely gorgeous. It has what they call a "fiddle base" machine. I think I read somewhere that they stopped making the fiddle base in the early 1890's so this machine is well over 100 years old. I have never sewed a stitch on it... it needs a new belt, but I do love to run my hands over it and imagine all the garments lovingly created with it. It is on a gorgeous table that even bears the "Singer" name on the drawer pulls. It also had a "coffin top" which is a detailed wooden box that covers the machine when it's not in use. I didn't photograph that.

I have the sweet little music chair that belonged to my ex-husband's grandmother... it is special because it was hers, and I loved her dearly. I will recover the little seat sometime soon I hope to match the new room.

And, I have the cute little table that holds some of my fabric stash that I moved last night to put my wide-format printer on. It has an adorable shape... in its' former life it was a baby changing table. I like to think it prefers the job it has these days! I may end up moving the fabric to the cubbie shelves, and putting my regular printer underneath on the shelf, but that hasn't been decided yet... and I think I want to paint it. I think I would love it to be black, or drawing a color from the fabrics, maybe a very deep chocolate brown.

I also have some utilitarian items that have to be in the room - a desk (that I didn't photograph on purpose because it is piled HIGH right now with *stuff*) and I also have a fold up cutting table, for when I have the rare moment for a sewing project. I have a couple of sewing machines that are collecting dust for now - but that I hope to reacquaint myself with soon!

Oh,... and last but NOT least! My beautiful vintage dress form. She is so stunning... I do LOVE having her there in room, the office, the studio - I think her name is Adeline... she hasn't really said much yet, so I don't know if she likes that or not! But she just stands there patiently while I keep moving things around. Hopefully she will speak up soon and give me some wisdom - I am sure she has stood in sewing rooms in years past and just soaked it all in. I have wanted one of these for such a long time and I am so excited to have her now. She is currently hanging out next to the printer, but I think that is much to modern for her. I think I need her more next to the Singer, I think she would be happier there.

The other thing you might notice is some of my little "B.E.E." stuff in the room. When I had the time to sew ~ I was making these very cute little handbags all over the place. I called them "B.E.E. Line Bags" ~ the name came from each of my children's initials, and I really like little bumble bee stuff, so it was a good match. I have a Ben, Erin and Emily... and they got a kick out of that too. I did take a picture of my little Queen Bee that sits atop the cubbie shelf ruling over it all. I would like to keep her in there somewhere, and keep a few little bees, without overdoing it. The photos on the wall are amazing, done by a professional - and photographs I just LOVE of each of my children, each under their initial. But I do hope sometime soon to replace the photographs with some that I take when I get good enough. I *so* wish I had more time...

I do want to change out the light at some point in the room, because we put a cool looking little ceiling fan in, but I just HATE the light it creates. It has three little spot lights and I thought that would be awesome, but sometimes you don't know you've made a mistake until after you make it. I just LOVE the adorable little chandelier that Heather has in her room, and I might be inspired enough to copy her. After all, isn't that the sincerest form of flattery??? Hope she doesn't mind! :-)

So... all that being said, here are a couple more little pages with some of the photos of my treasures. If any of your have a more room designer eye than me, I would welcome your suggestions! The room is about 12x12, so I might just have more stuff than I can fit, but I am hoping to keep it all in there! I do have the desk in front of the one double window - and I think I would like to keep it there because I love the natural light coming in. When I have the rest cleaned up (sigh...) I will take a few more photos - these below were just taken as a got one area clear, then moved something, photographed it, moved the *stuff* around again and so on... I did NOT photograph the stack of storage totes that just have junk in them that need to be emptied or the pile of stuff on the desk to go through.

Hi all! Have you ever wanted to have one of those fancy little fun blogs that seem to be everywhere today? I'm SEW excited!!

Hi all! I have an interesting two-part "problem" - it's a good problem, but it's still got me a little stumped! I am incredibly blessed to have a space in our home to call my own. It's not the corner of a bedroom, or the dining room when dinner's not on the table. It's my *own* space. I call it an office when I work, a sewing room when I sew, or a studio when I just want to feel creative. But, as my friend, Sarah B. dubbed it once, it is my "Dreaming Place" and I think I like that name best of all! Okay, so - sure that doesn't sound like a problem yet does it??? Well, it's not! That's the fabulous part. The first part of the problem is, that I have some incredible things in that space. Things that I just love - sure there are many special people in my life that I absolutely adore, but this special little room is where I keep the *things* that I love.

I have an amazing rough hewn cupboard that used to live in a candle shop, so each of it's little bins bring a special and amazing, unique scent to my space - even two years after I brought it home! This amazing cabinet arrived in an email from my dear friend Bridget one morning with a note saying, "I saw this on CraigsList and I just knew you would love this" ~ and she was right ~ she knows me well enough to know that I would love it ~ and I do! I went on my lunch break that day to pick it up!

I have a very special "music chair" that belonged to my ex-husband's Grandmother. It is a treasure to me - very special, a part of her from another part of my life. It reminds me of her spirit, and her love of life. She has been gone for over 15 years now and I can still hear her voice. My daughter used to call her "Nanny with the Yellow Hair" because she was blond... but she would say she preferred to be known as "Nanny of the Golden Tresses"... I still miss her.

I have a very stylish "fainting sofa" that I bought from a friend just because it felt like it was right. It is a lovely shape and fabric... I just need to make or find the perfect little pillows for it. I just wanted some place inviting for when my kids or a friend, or my darling husband wants to join me in my ... ahhhh, Dreaming Place.

I also have a gorgeous vintage Singer Treadle Fiddle base Sewing machine that dates back to the 1890's. It is to DIE for. It is in a beautiful Singer sewing table with Singer pulls on the drawers, a true work of art... when a machine was built for work and crafted for beauty. The stories this machine could tell if it could talk. I am sure it would speak of the countless hours that many women before me spent hours creating works of art or function for those they loved. Maybe Christening gowns or wedding dresses, or clothes for growing children... my love of fabric and sewing ties me to them, and to generations of those before me. The simplicity of this machine just speaks to me... it is something I just love to run my hands over. I feel connected to those that have come before when I sit at that machine - I have never sewed a stitch on it - it needs a new belt, but I can hear it whisper in my mind and how it must have been loved and treasured by those who owned it before me. I stumbled on it on CraigsList one morning and when I drove that same day to snatch it up, the woman who owned it told me that her father had given it to her, but it didn't hold any sentimental value to her. I felt so sorry for her - both for not feeling like a gift from her father was special enough to keep, and also for not understanding or appreciating this amazing work of art. Even the table that holds this wonderful machine is special. In a drawer, I found the puzzle box of attachments that came with the machine originally - and I just love to touch them and feel each piece in my hand. The history is remarkable - the fact that it is so intact and complete just pleases me. I will own this until I pass it along to one of my children or grandchildren. They will hopefully know and understand how special it is and love it like I do.

Then... *JUST YESTERDAY*, I acquired The Crown Jewel of my Dreaming Place... something I think I have wanted to own since I fell in love with sewing. I have longed for and looked at... searched for and dreamt about. I have searched on eBay and CraigsLists around the country for one I could afford. I have always wanted a vintage dress form - one that was an antique Bauman or Wolf... one with the cast iron rolling base and wire cage. A form that has held sewing projects in years past, a statuesque womanly figure who would have stories to tell if she could talk. A dress form that looked like it had been used, loved, and a part of the creation process, a building block that many special garments had been created upon. I have bid on forms on eBay and searched CraigsList all up and down the state of Florida, and south Georgia hoping that one would be close enough to make a trip to pick up. The "loved ones" look and feel the best. This would be the final piece to make my Dreaming Place complete. This would be the final thing to really make the room feel finished. And just yesterday... I found her!! I just popped onto CraigsList for just a minute - I hadn't searched for one in a little while, as other things have been a higher priority for a while.... but when I typed "dress form" in the search box... there she was - in ALL her glory. And glorious she is... so stately and beautiful. Her base a little rusted, her cage a little bent - but she is stunning nonetheless. I can only imagine how many times she has stood, patiently, for hours as a seamstress pinned and stitched, adjusted then ripped out stitches... I run my hands over the smooth fabric that is so beautifully aged and I just really feel how special she is. She is unnamed as yet, because I want to find just the right thing to call her - something special that "feels" right on her. I will have to think on it... maybe ask for suggestions! But she will be named... sometime soon!

Then there is the stuff I need to have in my Dreaming Place when I need it to be a Working Place! I have a desk that is pretty industrial and no frills, and also a sewing/cutting table when I get busy cutting and sewing. I also have a stack of great storage cubes that I also bought on CraigsList (gosh, I really NEED to stay OFF CraigsList!) that hold all my ribbons and ink cartridges, photo paper and odds and ends. Oh, and I do a VERY cool little open shelf table that was a baby's changing table in its' former life. I think it much prefers the job it does now. It stores and displays a good part of my fabric collection. Sure, I could box up the fabric and store it more compactly, but I just love the look and feel of fabric - makes me happy, so I keep it there. I do think in the near future that the shelf is going to find a new life as a stylish stand for my wide-format printer - but that has yet to be decided... and it does need a coat of paint.... maybe black.

Okay - now that I have droned on and on about the *things* in my space... here is the second part of my problem... I don't know HOW to make it all fit in the room and work together well. I know I want it all in there. I *need* it all in there. It makes ME feel like ME. All these things represent a part of me and what I do. I know one day... I will just pull most of it out and temporarily take over the adjacent dining room and then try to piece it all back in and make it work together. I am SO excited that very soon I will be moving to this being my only office. I just CANNOT wait to make that move - I am within weeks, and I would love to have my office... my sewing room - my true Dreaming Place all set by that day.

I will be posting pictures of all of my treasures in a day or two, so maybe you can help! I am open to suggestions, and if someone is a gifted designer - I would be happy to trade goodies for your help!

Mother's Day??? What??? Already???

Hi friends! I just cannot believe it is almost Mother's Day! If you are like me, you have probably waited until the last minute and are now scrambling for a great idea to make Mom happy! I mean, our parents get to a certain age, and place in their lives where they pretty much have what they want and what they need - and you are probably pretty tired of giving the same old cheesy Mother's Day gifts anyway! Are you a guilty Mom???

If you are like me, you are a VERY busy Mom. You have kids and family that runs in a 100 different directions at once. If you could have just ONE super power, it would be the ability to be TWO places at once! We all know those Moms who seem to do it all with ease... you know the ones I mean... Susie Sunshine's Mom who bakes cookies for class and remembers that Susie needs 10 empty milk jugs for a first grade project today, and who remembers to put the matching hair bow in Susie's hair. Sammy Sensational's Mom who writes a cute little note to pack with his perfectly nutritional lunch every morning, and who does NOT feed her children breakfast in the car on the way to school! Barbie Beautiful's Mom who is homeroom Mom, a former model, has 4 perfectly behaved children and is the President of the PTA too!

Well, I am NOT one of THOSE Moms! I have had glue drying on a homework project on the way to the car in the morning, and fed my children more drive-thru breakfasts than I care to admit! I have forgotten to pack lunches entirely, only to get a call from school phone number and a hear little voice on the phone that says, "Mom, you forgot my lunch again", I have fallen asleep in the car line while waiting for my little first grader - after being up MOST of the night with a new baby... (whew! I have to say, I am glad THOSE days are at least over!) But now, I am a VERY busy Mom with 3 teenagers, and it does NOT get any easier!!! Kids have rehearsals, two different places at exactly the same time... lost the 4th bowtie for their uniform, forgot to tell me that they needed a new pair of pink tights TODAY! Whew! How DO we do it???

When I discovered My Memories Suite software, I was a tired, frustrated, GUILTY Mom! I truly loved scrapbooking, and enjoyed each and every page I had created lovingly from the pictures from my children's early years. The problem was, that the last page in my traditional scrapbook was from my oldest daughter's 6th birthday party. Not bad you say, well - the only problem with that, was that my daughter was now a high school senior!! So, one night when I saw the ad on TV for My Memories Suite, I thought it was truly then answer to a prayer! I had great intentions but NO TIME!! I really WANTED to create these wonderful works of art with my photos, but didn't have the TIME or the SPACE, or the MONEY to keep up with it! And for a while during all that craziness, I was a single parent, and working full time - and if you know what that's like - you are so busy trying to keep it all going that you SURE don't have time to go out and pick up all the tools and papers and embellishments you need to make your book look like you WANT it to! It was AMAZING, liberating and completely GUILT DESTROYING! Good evening! I have to admit - I am a little Twitter-challenged... so when the guys wanted me to get our number of followers up, I have to admit - I didn't really understand how Twitter works. The strangest thing is this though - when you follow people on Twitter, you really get a little peek into people's lives on a pretty regular basis - sometimes MUCH more often than you think is necessary! But then they follow YOU and you can share all kinds of stuff about your work, your products, your projects and all the fun stuff you have going on! I think maybe I am a little old to completely understand the point of all of it, but I have to say, I am getting pretty excited as the number goes up of people who are following me! Now, I am starting to feel the pressure of finding fun, exciting, interesting things to say that will help people understand what we do, and find us interesting enough to stick with us. Oh, the pressure! LOL!

So... off to hunt down more like-minded, crazy crafters, silly scrapbookers, digital divas to stalk, er, I mean FOLLOW! I think maybe I am getting hooked!! Uh-oh!!

Belated Happy New Year to you!

I know this is a little late, but I wanted to wish a VERY Happy New Year to all of you! Things have been SO busy lately, that time has just gotten away from me! I have neglected my poor little blog! We were so busy leading up to Christmas with all of the regular hub-bub and then My Memories Suite launched Version 2 right before Christmas as well! So, needless to say, we have been VERY busy little bees trying to keep up with everything!

I trust you ALL have been keeping up with your pages and posts and are all finished with your holiday pages, right??? NOT! Me either! I will be happy when I get 2009 completed! At this point, I will be happy to get 2008 completed! I think we all have such a love for the process that sometimes we get hung up in the details of all of it!

So, as this New Year, this new decade rolls in, make a pledge to yourself that THIS will be the year you scrap! You may not be able to get everything from the past all caught up, but you don't have to tackle that all at once! It will be such a good feeling to scrap your current pages as they happen. A great way to keep up with this idea is to choose what some scrappers call a "Project365" or "Project52". Essentially these are pretty much just what they sound like. A plan, or an outline if you will for you to record a photo a day - which is great if you have a new baby or are building a new house, or to create a page, or a two-page spread per week, which is much more do-able if you have a few busy teenagers in the house like I do!

Whatever format you choose, try to stay consistent - and you can change your mind later if you like, but just put some pictures together NOW before January gets away from you and start this new year off right! My Memories Suite is a great program to use for putting your pages together quickly and with the new V2 release it is even EASIER to pull pages from any number of different templates so each week has a different theme or feel!

YOU CAN DO IT! You can always pick up a page or two from other projects if you have a backlog (and who doesn't have a backlog) but this way you stay up with what is going on now, and journal now while your thoughts are fresh and the details aren't lost in your memory. It will be so wonderful at this time next year to have ALL of 2010 DONE??? When you are thinking of gift ideas for next years holiday season, you will be able to pull from your completed pages and create any number of wonderful gifts! You will feel SO far ahead of the game it won't be funny!

Happy After Christmas to you all!

Good morning to one and all! It has been a super busy, but very fun Christmas season at our house! I hope you all enjoyed the season of sharing and giving and spending time with your families and those dear friends that are close to you. I know there are tons of places in the country that are buried under in the snow and have some extra time to spend just hanging out at home!

Why not take this time to get organized for a GREAT NEW YEAR??? Start by going through the Christmas pictures or holiday photos that you have just taken. Make some captions or notes to remember each event or item that will help you when you are going back to scrap those pages later. I am going to start a wonderful new project this year and create a two page spread per week this year. My own "Project 52". I am excited about recording this coming year and all that it might bring with it. I know so many things happen that don't get recorded, a game night, or movie date with your hubby, or an impromtu sleepover your teenagers hosts. Those are the treasured memories that build a family's story, but often get missed in our journals, or scrapbooks.

Make this the year that you DO it, that you record it, that you remember it, that you treasure it!

Start on JANUARY 1, record your special thoughts for the first page in the book, record what you hope for this year. Are you expecting a baby, looking forward to retirement this year, hoping for a loving husband or son, or mother or wife coming home from the Middle East? Journal those thoughts and hopes. Know where you are starting - by putting those words and thoughts to paper, it makes them real and ready to remember. Even if you NEVER print this book, or these pages never make it to paper, you can use your My Memories Suite software to create a wonderful slideshow that you can easily and inexpensively share with your friends and family at this time next year!

Enjoy the prospect, enjoy the project - enjoy building YOUR story!

All the buzzzzzz...

There is a TON of stuff going on around our house! We have been BUSY bees that's for sure! I have been SUPER busy keeping up with my new little "gig" handling lots of good stuff for My Memories Suites and have been LOVING every single second of it. Getting to be involved in the "behind the scenes" stuff has been a ton of fun ~ and I am So enjoying this new venture! I am hoping it grows into something much bigger in the future - so keep your eyes open for news on that when it comes! This has been like a dream come true type of deal for me and just getting to be a part of it has been very fun and exciting. I never dreamed that when I started to use this wonderful product that I would ever get to be a part of the team. After getting a wonderful opportunity to fly to Salt Lake City and meet the guys at StoryRock, I just got so excited to be included in some of the "cool stuff". They are a great bunch of guys and it was a pleasure to meet each and every one of them. WOW ! What a month !!

Hi All!! Whew! Can you believe we are almost at the END of September already??? What a month it has been. Things could not be going better! I am having a wonderful time helping my friends at StoryRock by hosting the Facebook page and blog! It is SO cool to get to know people from around the country who just love this program as much as I do. I am continually surprised by the amount of ideas and projects that people have used this software for. There are people who have poured their heart and souls into memory books for their families and friends and it is SO awesome that there is a program that makes it so quick to learn and easy to understand that almost anyone can create a professional looking masterpiece!

Hey Happy Campers!

It has been a busy week - and we did middle school orientation yesterday! A sure sign that back-to-school is RIGHT around the corner! We do high-school orientation on Tuesday next week, but parents are not invited! Guess the kiddos are on their own to get it all worked out! I am sure my son will do great, but it is a little tough getting used to. No biggie though!

How's everyone doing in ScrapLand??? Have you had time to get to your summer pages yet? I know I have done a few, but not put a book together from all of our summer fun. What is the best thing you like about doing summer pages? Do some of you save those pages to work on in the winter when you have snow on the ground??? In Florida, we don't get that too much (hardly ever...) but it is fun to VISIT!

Hi again! Things have been BUSY the last couple weeks - I am catching my breath for a minute before hitting the schedule hard again! School starts back in TWO WEEKS - hard to believe that summer has just about come and gone. Of course, in Florida - that doesn't mean much of a season change, just been hotter than normal! :-) I will have a high-schooler this year and one with one more year in middle school... so things should be gearing back up soon with rehearsals and homework and performances! My oldest is college, so she is handling most of her business herself these days! It is SO cool to watch your kids grow up into young adults. I am SO proud and think I have the three most wonderful children in the whole world - but I guess every Mom probably thinks that...
Well, I think that is all for now, just had a second - but I will be working up some new pages in the next day or two and will get them posted straight away!

Hi all! Didn't realize it had been SO long since my last post! I have been a busy bee the last couple weeks just running around with the kiddos, so I guess the days just got away from me. Well, in the last couple weeks, I have gotten ANOTHER wedding book done! It is just so much fun, I think I am truly addicted! I did have to spend quite a while finding JUST the right background to set off the beautiful colors of this wedding. The dresses were SO cute, so Florida summer - so, it was a blast to do this one. So, I am excited to share a few pictures from this book - let me know what you think!

Happy Birthday Cindy!

Good morning all! Today is a special day! It is my sister, Cindy's birthday! She is going to be celebrating in style later today as both of her (wonderful, amazing, incredible) sisters treat her to dinner at Cheesecake Factory! Then we will be joining the rest of the Florida family that is in town for cake and ice cream and gifting at her and her hubby's house! She actually asked for a special present this year and it was my delight to do it for her. After she saw some of the wedding albums I have done recently, she asked if I would take the pictures from her wedding in 2005 and create an album for her. It was such a treat to do that for her! I realized when looking back through the pictures how much my own children (who were all in the wedding party) have grown since then - because they were ALL shorter than me then! Now... not so much! :-) Well, since I am giving her this book tonight, I thought I would post some pages from it today! These pages were all created in MMS with some wonderful background papers from HuniBuni - and some Laceology elements. I am planning on wrapping up a box of tissues to give her first because I know she will cry when she sees this!

This is such a wonderful treasure to give someone, and by bringing these pictures back to life, you let the person really relive a special moment - or recreate a memory for them! Now is the time to start thinking ahead for Christmas and birthdays for the rest of the year - and maybe a nice gift for Grandparent's Day??? If you are blessed enough to still have your grandparents what better way to celebrate your family history with them before it's too late...

Worn-Out Wednesday!

Hi all! This Wednesday of the month is always a challenge! It is the night after our Foster Care training meeting and we are always dragging today! We had a wonderfully FULL HOUSE last night with our Foster children (20+) along with their Foster parents at the meeting for training. We did everything we could to keep everyone happy for the two hours (almost 2 1/2) that they are with us. The just LOVE to go to the gym and we are extremely blessed to have wonderful facilities at our campus to accomodate their energy! ~ Wish I could manufacture some of that for myself!~ Maybe better pump up the vitamins on training days! :-)

I am also just beginning to scratch the surface on this whole digital scrapbooking hobby - it is EXHAUSTING to try to read everything that is out there on the subject, or just LOOK at all of it. I am wondering how to pick and choose what to do first!

I would LOVE to know how people manage their pages, projects and time! There is SOOOO much out there to collect and sample and see - how do you all do it!??? What are your tricks, what works, what doesn't?

Hi all! It is our Totally Tuesday! This is our work day once a month that never seems to end! We do Foster Care training nights for the Foster Parents one Tuesday night each month, and today is the day! We will be caring for 20+ foster children while our Foster parents spend a couple hours doing a training class. It is fun, but exhausting! They are so stinkin' cute though! If you ever have extra prayers and you don't know what to do with them, say a few for these precious children! They sure need it!

Yaaaaayyyy!!! Finally, after some grief and aggravation, reading and re-reading instructions... asking my daughter for help (teenagers are supposed to know EVERYTHING internet related, right???) I sent an email straight to the source! I emailed a VERY sweet Amanda (picture me doing the "we're not worthy move from Wayne's World) from kevinandamanda.com regarding how to use her *adorable* fonts on my little blog. Well, a few emails later - and a BIG "light bulb" moment on my part - you know that moment when you finally get it, I was able to upload this super cute little font (Pea Stacy to be exact - used it in the header I created in My Memories Suite too!) to use on my blog. I really wanted it to be just right and now, I finally think it is just right! Amanda was SUPER sweet, and very knowledgeable and patient in answering my emails - and I finally realized what she meant in her instructions! They instructions - VERY CLEAR - me... not so much! :-) But now, it is up and running, sized right, in the color I want, and I feel SOOO smart! There, HTML code - take that! I am just happy it worked!

Good morning all! Wow - another weekend just FLEW by! We were able to go pick up Ben from FSU Summer Music Camp! It was amazing to see these middle and high school students from all over perform together in three levels of orchestras. They are amazing by any standards, but when you factor in that they are all teenagers, it makes it even more amazing. They are so talented!

We really enjoyed some family time together too - it was a rare treat to have everyone in the same place at the same time! Of course, that only lasted a day, Erin is off for a week at camp and the day she comes home Em and Ben head out to their Dad's for a week. It seems like summer is flying by and it will be back to school in little more than a month!

Ben's quartet group is playing again at Riverside Arts Market this coming Saturday, so that should be a good time!

I will post some pictures from the weekend soon!

Good morning All! It's Monday already and heading back to work after a long holiday weekend is NEVER fun! I am so thankful for a WONDERFUL weekend with my family (even though I missed my Mom and Dad who are retire-vacationing in Maine). We had a great time at the pool at Brenda & Joseph's and then a night at the fireworks on the river! Always a fun time!

I am SO happy to have my hubby back home and am looking forward to a short week before we head to Tallahassee this weekend to pick up Ben from summer music camp at FSU.

I am posting a couple pics this morning of layouts I did last night with My Memories Suite software after getting my sister Cindy's birthday gift complete. The layouts are of Emily and her friend Makenzie who spent the day with us! They are SUPER cute! They are from the "Some Beach Somewhere" designer template, designed by Ettes & Company. To make quick work of keeping up with events and pages, I started with a pre-designed layout and make a couple quick changes to make it mine and then add some cute pictures. Both pages, literally took under 10 minutes to COMPLETE. What I love about MMS is that you have complete control over every detail of every page. Whether you start from scratch or a predesigned layout, you can move, change, add or delete anything you see! I know I sound like a constant commercial, but I just LOVE this software and all you can do with it!

I also got my sister's birthday gift done this weekend and ORDERED! That makes the 6th complete book I have done in the past couple months. I have would NEVER have been able to do that with traditional scrapbooking. My sister's gift is an album of her wedding pictures from her wedding in 2005 - you can create a wonderful keepsake whether the event happened this weekend or 20 years ago. I have used both pictures that started digital and those that I had to scan - the printed books look great and you really can't tell the difference in the pictures when you look at the book...

Well, I better get to it - off to work I go!

Hi all! Yayyyyyy - today's the day, Scott finally comes back home!! :-) He's been gone for two weeks - first for his annual fishing trip with his brother and nephew and then he ended up tacking on a couple of work days at the end of his trip at Mayo in Rochester. But I will be SOOOO glad to have him home! Seems like it's been a l-o-n-g time!

Can't spend long today though, got some housecleaning to do before he gets here! Shhhh, don't tell him! :-)

Good morning ALL! Hope all is well wherever you are! Things here in Florida are HOT HOT HOT and sticky! But this IS Florida in the summer! I working today, but tonight I get to go enjoy a dance show my daughter Emily will be performing in to showcase the work they have done at her summer dance intensive class. It should be good ~ I always enjoy getting a chance to see her dance!

I am so THANKFUL for wonderful, healthy children that are excited about their passions and that they are all doing so well in pursuing them, individually. I am just so blessed by them and all the love they bring to our lives. I am one blessed girl and I thank God every day for their presence and joy.

This is my beautiful daughter Erin, and this special page was created in the "Amica" designer template ~ by Barbara Ryan. MMS has tons of gorgeous designs that make your pictures look wonderful! I just changed the circle to an oval to accomodate this picture and found this font on a wonderful site called, "kevinandamanda.com" they have over 300 different handwriting fonts - really makes your pages look hand-done. Love it, love it!

She is pretty special to me and I just love being able to create these beautiful pages to celebrate her!

How SUPER COOL is this???

Hi all!!! This is so totally cool! I got a note the other day that I have been selected for the new *Creative Team* for my current obsession, Polaroids My Memories Suite! I am (truly, and totally) addicted to the program! It is the MOST fun I have ever had with my photographs and I have created SO many COMPLETE projects in such a short time that it is awesome. Even the header of this blog was created in MMS! There are SO many wonderful projects you can do, but I will chat about some of those later! :-)

I have always loved all things crafty and have a jam-packed (and kind of crazy, disorganized mess) of a sewing room to prove it. I really love scrapbooking in the traditional style, but as I said to Lori and Jen when applying for the Creative Team, the last page in my traditional book is from my oldest daughter's 6th birthday party! That same daughter is now a junior in college! Life gets BUSY and it is very hard to find time to scrap the way you want when you really get into it. When I discovered MMS, I thought I had gotten an answer to prayer! It truly has revolutionized the picture taking and memory keeping in my family! I stumbled across an infomercial about a year or so ago - just as my oldest daughter was graduating from high school and I really wanted to create a book for her as she closed that chapter in her life (and in mine... when did I get old enough to have a college kid???) So, I took the plunge and bought this program. I got overwhelmed with emotion trying to create this project and just shelved the idea for a while. But then, come Mother's Day this year, I got the bug to create a book for my Mom of my children's history. I literally sat one whole weekend (ask my hubby) and scanned pictures for hours and hours. I took a TON of pictures from an old tub in my garage and brought them into what turned into an incredible project.

I created this wonderful gift for my Mom (and I printed an extra for me) and it was truly the hit of the day. Whether the pictures started out on paper and had to be scanned, or if they started digital, they all looked beautiful in this book. I had it printed through MMS with my coupon and have not stopped since!

I love this program because it keeps up with my busy life! I can take my laptop and EVERYTHING I need is with me. I never run out of any elements, or papers because everything you buy can be used over, and over and over again. That is one of my favorite things about digi-scrapping! And the thing I like best about MMS is that it plays nice with almost every other element or paper I have bought, whether directly from MMS (and they have an EVER-GROWING collection) or other sites, I can use everything with amazing results!

I am *SUPER EXCITED* to be a part of this new Creative Team and look forward to sharing alot of new layouts and designs with you!

New look!???

Well, I think I finally found a background I am happy with - I found this background on HotBliggetyBlog and I think it matches really cute with my header! - I love doing all the creative designing end of things and am having to play catch up with the technical end of things! I used to feel so smart with things, but now - not so much! I kind of like new background look with the header block that I designed in MyMemoriesSuite. I am having so much fun learning all the new things that are all available in this new world. I am having fun building this blog and am looking forward to putting it out there when everything gets posted on the MMS website. I know I have spent a TON of time getting things ready for the big announcement, but I am excited about it. I still have to tackle changing the font, but I have SEEN other people do it on their blogs, so I just KNOW that it can be done! There are just a TON of websites out there that talk you through doing this, so I know I am not stupid and I can figure it out! (or maybe Erin can!) :-)

I found this WONDERFUL site : kevinandamanda.com and they have just the CUTEST fonts, that I am looking forward to getting it loaded on my blog.

Okay - I think I am giving up for tonight! **Sigh...** I am trying to get a to where I know how to change the font on my blog - and I am just realizing that all the directions I read might just as well be written in Greek. I just don't get it! I am hoping my daughter - who is MUCH smarter than me can help me tomorrow! I want to get this little Blog-edy Blog all cute an sweet for the announcement of the Creative Team next week. I just wish I understood this stuff! Maybe Erin can teach me!
I will be working on my sister's wedding album project starting tomorrow, so I was really hoping to get this dumb thing done tonight, but I guess NO GO!

Hi all! Good morning! Up early to get to to work today and get Emily to camp! She is working SO hard at the dance camp intensive she is attending - this girl is tough! Anyone who says ballet looks easy has never done it! I am so proud of how hard she is working and how well it is going for her.

Ben is a little bummed about the orchestra he got assigned to at camp, but I am hoping he will still have a good time. I know sometimes you think you are doing well in an audition and then it seems like it doesn't turn out well. I know he is disappointed, but I am sure he will still have a great time! I just cannot believe my little boy (who is taller than me now) will be in high school in August! How did this happen???

Oh well... off to start the day, more later!

Good morning all! Another Monday here already! Today is a pretty laid back day compared to some lately... took Ben to FSU yesterday for his two-week summer music camp. He - super excited... me - not so much! Be strange for him to be away for two weeks in one stretch. I was trying to think back as to whether he had ever been gone this long, and I don't think he has! Oh, they grow up TOOOO fast! His quartet, "4-Ever Young String Quartet" played at Riverside Arts Market again on Saturday and did a great job! I am going to post a couple pictures, they are getting really good. They now have a couple weddings booked in the spring already! WOW! That's pretty cool!

I got on FaceBook and found that my friends at My Memories Suite had taken one of my ideas from FB and posted it to their website! It was pretty cool! I am having such a fun time finding what this program can do and when I figure out something new, I am having fun sharing it! They are SO super sweet there at MMS and I am just having fun getting to know them! I also found some great tutorials on their website that taught me a couple new things too - so you always should look around a website just to find the treasures there!

One thing I just LOVE about MMS is that they make it so easy to use other images/layouts/backgrounds and embellisments you can find in other places and still work within MMS. I found some really cute "quick page" layouts on a website - I will look and post the name later, but after reading the tutorial about how to use these in MMS, I put together a couple of really cute pages from when Emily was little! They came out really cute and literally took under a minute to complete. See what you think!!

Wacky Wednesday!

Well - here we are again, another day in the life... things are going great though! We were able to give the first 12 x 12 bridal books to the bride and her family Monday night and she and her new husband and parents seemed to really love them! It is always so gratifying to see someone enjoy something you had a part in creating! I am hoping that Joseph and I can do many more projects together. He does great photography work and then the MMS just puts it into a dramatic presentation form! We did a DVD for them, complete with music in the background of the album I created. A wonderful team effort and it was SOOOO much fun! I am getting ready to start on my sister's now, for her birthday gift for this year! I think I will do both sisters actually!

I am also SUPER EXCITED to have gotten an email the other day from Lori at MMS that I am being chosen the VERY FIRST member of the new Creative Team that they are putting together! It is an exciting opportunity for me to get involved on some level in something creative that will be something I really can keep up with. I am excited about the possibilities and see where this might lead. Who knows what the future holds and I am thankful and excited about this new door opening. I am always looking for new things to put into my MMS books and new ways to share them with others. Sometimes I feel like I am a walking billboard for their product, but I just love it that much!

So, we will see where this goes and I will maybe start posting some of the cool things I find on here, so I can share them with all of yoU!

Monday Madness!

Good morning! Off to start another week! Did some "redecorating" on the little blog last night - looks pretty cute I think! I am going to start my plan this week to get to look like my new icon! I have let things get pretty out of hand with the scale and it is TIME TO GET IT HANDLED! Weighed in this morning, fainted from shock and now am more determined than ever to just get going.

Time to just get serious and get something done, instead of whining, denying, or just buying bigger clothes! Enough already! I am thinking about buying a new book I saw - or maybe just keeping my MOUTH CLOSED!! :-)

Super Sunday!

Well, here we are on Sunday! It has been a WONDERFUL day - and the only bad thing is that both my hubby AND my Dad are both out of town for Father's Day. We actually did celebrate the day back at the end of May on Memorial Day weekend, because it was the last day we were able to all be together. We spent the day at Brenda & Joseph's and it was a really special day - it was great to all be together... we got some great pictures and it was really fun. I am SO thankful for the wonderful Dad I have and the wonderful husband and Step-Dad Scott has been to my children. I am SOOOO blessed!

It is QUIET here today! Scott is in MN and the kiddos are at their Dad's. I had a GREAT time last night hanging out at the Lorentzson's - Brenda, Joseph, Tyler, and Blake! It was great to see Ty who was home from Tampa for the weekend. When did I get so old??? I remember when he was born! Sheesh!

Today is going to be a HOT HOT HOT day - heat index between 106-110 degrees???? Seriously! Time to stay indoors!

The cable guy is coming today, so I will be hanging out here for a while! Time to do some scrappin' online!!

Fantastic Friday ~ Part Duex!!

Hi again - just a note... E/B/E just hit the road for their first solo trip to their Dad's - I am a NERVOUS wreck! I know they will be fine and it is time to let them try it, but I will be so thankful when they get there safely! God please be with my precious children and guide them and protect them on their trip. Please, I pray, bring them home safely to me on Sunday. I am grateful for them every day and ask for your hand to be on them as they travel.

Hi again! Just time for a quick note right now - I am trapped in the file room today to play catch up on my FAVORITE activity at work - FILING... my own personal "F" word!! So, I am in there until I am done! Thankfully, I have a **wonderful** assistant today and she is hole punching for me as I file! Makes it go TWICE as fast!

Today E/B/E will be heading to their Dad's for the first time with Erin driving... I am a little nervous, but I am sure they will do fine. She has a good car, her cell phone, her AAA card, and a GPS - I think we have covered all our bases! I am praying for no rain and a safe journey for all of them.

Off to the file room - maybe more later if I can stand it!

Thursday Thoughts!

Hi again - just another day in the life! Today Scott gets to head north for his fishing trip to Minnesota! He will be "leavin' on a jet plane" later today and will be enjoying a lovely week in a fishing cabin on a lake with his brother, nephew, his Mom and her hubby Howie! I am wishing him safe travel and a wonderful restful break from the chaos that is our life! I am so incredibly blessed to have such a sweet and wonderful hubby and hope he enjoys his trip! We will try to hold down the fort without him here - I think he stocked us up with groceries pretty well for his absence, so I think we can make it!

I am posting a picture today of my precious Dad with my kiddos that we took on Memorial Day. We had to celebrate Father's Day early this year, since my hubby and my Dad were both going to be out of town on the actual day. This is one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken, and one of my very favorite of my Dad and my kids. God has truly blessed me!

I will be updating more later with cool stuff I am finding for my newest obsession: "Digital Scrapbooking" - I am totally hooked and am just having a BLAST making the most of family memories now! Here is the first pic I will post here, but there are MORE to come!

Tuesday Troubles

Ever do something stupid, then get totally busted for it??? Happened today, hopefully it won't end up being too bad, but I have some backtracking to do now. Have a meeting next week to address it - feel like I am being summoned to the principal's office! Why do I do dumb things??? Or why don't I do dumb things better so I don't get nabbed???

Monday Monday!

Hi all - I am home with Emily today - she isn't feeling well, so we are hanging at home today! I hope she will be better by tomorrow, she hates to miss dance camp - so I am sure she will be back up and running by tomorrow.

On other notes, the quartet that Ben plays with "4-Ever Young String Quartet" played Saturday at Riverside Arts Market and did fantastic! We were very excited about how well they were received and how well they did...

Emily had her dance recital on Friday night and did BEAUTIFULLY!!! She danced a feature part in her section, as the "Snow Queen" - she looked gorgeous and did a beautiful job and we couldn't have been more proud of her!

I am going to start trying to keep this blog up so that everyone knows what we are up to and what we have going on.

I am also very excited about some new projects I am working on with my current obsession of digital scrapbooking. I have a couple of pages posted on the MMS (Polaroid My Memories Suite) FaceBook page and also on their Flickr page. I am working really hard on some new books and have recently finished several albums for other things. I just LOVE this program and can't say enough about it. I have applied to become a member of their "Creative Team" and look forward to hearing about that. They sent me a nice note about some things I had posted on the FB page, so I would love an opportunity to be a member of their team!
